I recently went to America to attend my brother's wedding and there I met many Kenyans and Americans who wanted to know more about the Kenya real estate market.

Neither of them knew of the vast changes and the recent property boom that Kenya was experiencing.

Determined to shed more light for them, I returned home determined to gather as much information as I could and sent it over to them. Many got interested and bought houses.

I will tell you about one friend as he was the first person that I helped to buy a house in Kenya.

Tom has a good job in Atlanta,Georgia and wanted to buy a house in South C area of Nairobi. He wanted it for rental purposes and to eventually retire in when he relocates to Kenya. It took a while to locate the house that he wanted but eventually, I saw one that matched his price and preferred location. Due to work commitments, he was not in a position to come to Kenya and inspect the house.

I took digital pictures of the house and sent them to him. He then asked his cousin to visit the house to double check the contents, location and to offer a second opinion on the house.

After he was ready to proceed, I instructed him on the legalities, mortgages and procedures of buying the house. He later came to Kenya and was happy to see it. He finished paying the mortgage in less than a year and got a paying tenant to live there.
