Think of year round warm sunshine, tasty organic food, friendly English speaking communities......what more would you need when looking for a retirement home?

There is no one person that I have spoken to who has been to Kenya and doesn't want to come back again!

When I ask what they liked best here, they all say, 'the Kenyan people are very friendly'. No wonder they keep coming back.

Kenya, especially the Kenyan Coast is an excellent place to buy a villa for retirement or even for investment.

Kenya’s coastline, caressed by the warm winters of the Indian Ocean and blanketed in soft white sands, attracts tourists from around the world for its rich and colourful marine life, beautiful coral reefs, and romantic beaches in some of the world’s best safari country.

A beachfront property is a solid Kenya real estate investment whether you intend to live there year round, vacation there part of the year, or rent it out to tourists who flock here to enjoy the various attractions of all that Kenya has to offer.

In Lamu you can find terraced villas overlooking the sea.  Properties come in a wide range of styles from the traditional Swahili style with grass roofs and white walls  to the ultra modern.  Most are overlaid with today’s modern conveniences.

The Kenya real estate market offers properties with en-suite bathrooms, spacious modern kitchens, and swimming pools shaded by palm trees and leafy ferns.  Up and down the coast from Lamu in the North to Mombasa in the South, you will find a variety of styles and prices to suit your needs.

In Malindi you can buy a modest Villa situated a little way from the coast on an acre of land dotted with lime and cashew trees for about $150,000

For half a million dollars US you can buy a luxury villa on 3 acres of land in Diani beach, complete with maid’s quarters, a fenced perimeter, lush landscaping and fresh water wells.

In Mombasa, $600,000 US will buy you a spacious European style villa close to the waterfront and close to shopping with a maid’s room, a laundry room and 5 bedrooms.

However, if you prefer the convenience of a low maintenance property, look into a coastal apartment. You can often find clusters of apartments for sale in a single area if investing is your goal
