Home Stays
These all differ in price and facilities available. In this page, I will tell you more about each type of accommodation. Consider Home Stays or Youth Hostels if you are on a limited budget. Self catered apartments would be most suitable if travelling as part of a group of at least 4 people.
Kenya Hotels & Lodges:
There are many hotels in Kenya and the best ones are managed as part of a chain. Also, do remember that hotels in game reserves are usually referred to as lodges.
The Sarova Stanley is my most favourite hotel in Nairobi city. Established in 1902, this hotel has fine English taste. Originally owned by Mayence Bent, the hotel has change ownership twice after that to Abraham Block and then to the Vora Family. Located at the heart of Nairobi city, this hotel has excellent business and relaxation facilities.

My favourite is the health club that has a heated pool, well equipped gymn, offers excellent massage, and has the loveliest attendants. Here is a picture of some of the attendants, Jackie and Sophie

Though the Stanley is slightly costly, the Six Eighty Hotel and Hotel Bulevard are relatively cheaper.

Boarding and Lodgings
Every town has one of these. Despite the name, these should be your last accommodation resort. They tend to have discos and bars on the bottom floor and rooms at the top. Like 90% of them are dirty and run down. Safety would also be a cause of concern in most of them. If you find that you need to stay in one of these, ensure that you have your own tissues, soap, drinking water and beddings (or at least your own sheets).
Youth Hostels
Nairobi and Mombasa have some good hostels. YMCA, YWCA and The Nairobi Hostel are quite popular with foreign travellers.
Homestays
Easily my favourite form of accommodation in Kenya. Why you ask? You get to experience true African hospitality. You can contact me if you would like for me to help you find this type of accommodation.
Self Catering Apartments
These are more popular in the coast. You can also find a reasonable priced place if wish to stay for an extended period. However, don't look for these in the local dailies. There are so many con artists out there. The best is to go by recommendation. I can refer you to some good ones that will suit your needs.
