Getting Around & About In Kenya
Cheap Car Rental in Kenya:
You can find reliable vehicles from small saloon vehicles to larger 4x4 wheel drives. Car rental in Kenya is an expensive way of getting around though.
It works out cheaper if you were sharing the car with others.

You could go for the bigger rental companies like Central Rent A Car or you could get a friend to organise a car for you when you get here.
Take the bus
We have a couple of good bus companies that make getting around easier. These bus companies are; Citi Hoppa, 2M buses and the Kenya Bus Management Services.
These are reasonably safe, professionally managed and serve most parts of greater Nairobi.
Remember that for buses in Nairobi, the conductor will come round asking for money after you have entered and sat down. For journeys out of Nairobi, you have to pay the fare at the booking office. You would do this just before you board the bus.
Take a Taxi
There are loads of taxis in Nairobi town. We have the London look like taxis and the ones with the yellow stripe around them.
The London look like cabs are expensive. Whichever one you take, ensure that you negotiate on the price first.
Rail
Kenya Railways operates over 2630 km of track. There are regular train services between Nairobi and Mombasa, departing around 7 pm arriving the following morning around 9 am. There are three class compartments available; First, Second and Third. Most tourists to Kenya select the First class cabin, which is a standard compartment with two beds and a wardrobe as compared to the second class that has four beds. Dining services are also available on the train.
