Chapati Recipe
Chapati recipe that works! Chaps, chapos, chapati. Making them is one of those things that you either know or you dont.
But thank God for this recipe as it really does work and you will have some sumptous chapati's for your lunch or dinner.
Ingredients Needed
- Flour - Lots of it
- Vegetable Oil
- Sugar
- Salt
- Water
Step 1
Mix the flour, sugar and salt in one bowl for about 2 minutes.
Step 2
Add water to the dry mixture and stir using a large wooden spoon.
Mix it up untill it begins to become sticky. At that point, I usually abandon the spoon and go for it with my bare hands.
Step 3
Knead the dough and leave it to rest. The longer the better. Some people leave it to rest overnight and you can do that too.
Step 4
Take a small piece from the dough and roll it out like this.
Step 5
Apply some oil with a brush or spoon and impress a line from the center outwards.
Lift the dough from the center and roll it round from the center like this.
The idea behind this is to create layers in the chapati which makes it soft.
Step 6
Roll out the dough again and this time ensure that it is well rounded. Put it one a pre-heated pan.
Turn it over to the other side when it starts becoming brownish.
At this point, you can either apply oil with brush or spoon and fry again and voila, there is your chapati - nice and hot!
